The Beginning – Powerclean Chemicals Limited
Founded by Stephen Coulter in 1978 at his home in Suffolk, Powerclean was just a small operation, manufacturing new and effective products used to clean cars and commercial vehicles without the need for sponging or brushing. Steve made his first batch of Traffic Film Remover (TFR) in his garden shed using a 200 litre drum and a wooden paddle to blend in the ingredients.
Supplying his TFRs to various cleaning equipment distributors, Powerclean offered these companies the chance to sell his TFR under their own brand. After the success of these white label products, Steve and Powerclean moved into a factory in the Suffolk Coastal town of Leiston, where we still operate from to this day.
Products For All Industries
After seeing the success of the TFRs, Steve knew there was more to be done. With the addition of more staff, including 4 of his sons, Steve and Powerclean worked relentlessly on new formulations for other products to add to our ever-growing catalogue.
Adding to the list of car and commercial vehicle cleaners, more products were formulated including specialist sanitising products. Products such as interior cleaners, vehicle dressings and polishes were a huge success and created a solid foundation.
In 1997, Powerclean was one of the first independently owned chemical manufactures to be awarded certification to the internationally recognised Quality Standard ISO9000. Our original registration number was just 261.
Molecular
Having supplied many millions of litres of product to “own label” customers, it was decided to introduce our own brand which will become recognised by the end-user.
